Personal Couriers is an agent that matches clients with freelance couriers and though not a travel agent can arrange travel including budget travel at significant savings.
We have couriers based in major cities worldwide. We have couriers that can travel worldwide on a moment’s notice.
The client is expected to pay all travel expenses plus a reasonable stipend to cover incidental costs such as food and lodging. Sometimes it will be necessary to pay a predetermined fee in addition to the travel expense. This usually happens then couriers are asked to travel to places that are less desirable such as Iraq, Mexico border cities, Ethiopia, etc.
If the client is not in a rush we may be able to match the job with another client who is willing to split the costs. We may also have tourist couriers who are already planning a trip to or from the clients destination who are willing to transport the client’s good for an amount less than the actually travel cost. We do our best to work with our clients to find the best, lowest cost, solution for international and local personal courier service. In most cases we are able to do an international courier job for less cost then if the client did the job themselves.
We do a complete background check on all couriers however background checks on couriers based in countries outside the US are less reliable.
There is no insurance available for international couriers therefore Personal Couriers carries no professional insurance. Individual couriers may have profession licenses granted by governmental agencies, profession liability insurance such as Error Omission or may even be bonded however these licenses, insurance and bonds may not be valid for international travel and should only be consider as reflections of trustworthiness.
Personal Couriers takes no responsibility for any liability or loss. Clients use our service at their own risk. In the last 3 years we have had two couriers who were robbed resulting in the loss of the clients goods. Our couriers are forbidden to carrier weapons. Our couriers are required to give up anything of value without resistant when confronted by a robber with a weapon.
While loss of client goods is very rare it does happen. Loss of goods is most often a result of lost luggage which may be covered by the airline but is usually limited to a small amount of liability. For best security we recommend airport to airport transport where the client’s goods are picked at the airport and delivered to the client’s recipient at the airport on the other end.
The courier must inspect all goods to be transported and will not transport anything that is illegal to transport out of country or into country. Items to be transported must be declared in advance and all duty and custom fees must be paid in full and in advance.
While Personal Couriers may do the travel arrangements the client is expect to pay for the airfare and hotel stays directly. The client is expect to pay all fees, stipend, travel compensation and custom fees in advance and in full. We charge our clients an administration fee of 3% of the value of the travel or $50 which ever is most.
Personal Couriers accepts all major credit cards as well as PayPal and eChecks. First time clients may be required to pay all fees and expenses in certified funds.
